Day 7- Tournament in Rotterdam

Day 7 -August 2nd

Today we are back to playing ball. The boys played in a mini tournament in Rotterdam. Seacoast A and Seacoast AA had very successful days on the diamond. Both teams went 2-0.

Seacoast A won game (1)  7 to 6. Trailing 6 to 5 going into the last inning William Hindle started the inning with a walk and then immediately stole 2nd base. Cam Beane waiting on a fast ball, hit a rocket over the center fielders head. Will Hindle scored to tie the game and Cam Beane scored right behind him with a walk-off inside the park home run. A celebration followed at home plate. The stars of the game were Cam Beane 2 for 4 and Owen Fox. Lucien Mason picked up the win on the mound.

Seacoast AA won game (1) convincingly. Final score 13 to 1. Offensively, everyone contributed with several players getting at least 1 hit. Devon Lapierre was the winning pitcher.

Seacoast A won game (2) with a score of 15 to 3. Connor Norton led the team offensively. He went 2 for 3 with a triple and inside the park home run. Owen Fox, Tristan Winder, Cam Beane each contributed two hits. Bennett Hayes had a dominating performance. He struck out five out of six  batters to lead the team on the mound.

Seacoast AA won game (2) 7 to 6. Rotterdam scored two runs in the last inning to make it close. Daniel Sarmiento was the star of the game. He struck out the last two batters to close out the game.

Offensively Seacoast AA played some small ball to score their seven runs.

After playing ball, the kids stayed around for a BBQ. Lots of options to eat. The menu included chicken , hot dogs, burgers, french fries and oh some fruit for those that wanted to eat healthy.

We returned to the hotel around 8pm. The boys went to the snack store and then were back in their rooms by 10pm.

Day 5: Cheese, Wooden shoes, and Pizza

After a hard fought weekend of baseball, a relaxing day of sightseeing is exactly what the boys needed. As a reward the boys were able to sleep in until 8 (sleep in....HA!). We had breakfast together as a team and got on the bus to head to Volendam.  Volendam is a Dutch town on the Markermeer Lake, northeast of Amsterdam. It’s known for its colorful wooden houses and the old fishing boats in its harbor, which is lined with seafood vendors.  Our trip into the city started at the Henri Willig Cheese Factory. We were given a quick tour in the area where they make the cheese. While there the tour guide explained to us the process of making the cheese, how long it takes, and the various types of cheeses they make in the factory. After the demonstration we were able to go into the gift shop where the boys could sample all of the cheeses made in the factory and also buy different types of cheeses and other snacks. Day 2: This place is beautiful

Day 2 kicked off with a visit into the center of Amsterdam. It is an amazing city with stunning architecture. It is very fast paced, though! Lots of people, bikes and trains rolling through the streets. We met outside of the Royal Palace of Amsterdam (pictured above) where we took some pictures and got ready to split up for some sightseeing. Before we spit up we were approached by a young opera singer who was doing a challenge with the group she was with. She had to crowd surf while singing and she asked our boys to play the crowd and we happily played along. Unfortunately I can't post the video but there is a screenshot below. It was a really funny experience for the boys and the hundreds of people that stopped to watch We then split off into our groups to go around and check out the shops.
