Day 4: Bringing home the hardware

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay - technical difficulties with my computer
(Championships made possible by Core Orthopedics and Nike)

What a great day yesterday was for our program. After breakfast and a short bus ride from the hotel both teams resumed their postponed games in hopes of making it to the semi finals.

Team A started on defense in the top of the 5th inning down 3-2. The host Amsterdam Pirates were able to score a run to add to their lead. Seacoast A rallied in the bottom half but it wasn't enough, falling by a final of 4-2

Team AA resumed play on defense in the top of the 5th inning with an 8-5 lead, runners on first and second, and one out. Jacob Cogswell stayed in to pitch and after a wild pitch that scored a run was able to get two ground balls to end the game. Robbie Follis made a beautiful bare handed play coming in on the ball to end the game.

Team A then played their final game in the consolation bracket against the Hoofddorp Pioneers. Team A picked up the win in an offensive explosion that included an inside the park homerun from Tristan Winder! (Video available on Seacoast United Pirates facebook and Instagram accounts) Team A had a great weekend going 2-2 and really represented Seacoast United well during the tournament

In the semi finals team AA took on the Amsterdam Pirates. Amsterdam scored 3 runs with 2 outs in the top of the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Seacoast AA was not phased and came back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom half to cut the lead to 3-2. Will Macgregor had an RBI single and Kosta Mocklis added an RBI double to score MacGregor. Amsterdam added another run in the top half of the third inning to make their lead 4-2. Seacoast again was not phased and got a run back after Devon Lapierre scored on a wild pitch. The score remained 4-3 until the bottom of the 6th. After Devon Lapierre doubled to start the inning, Robbie Follis grounded out to the right side to move Lapierre to third. Will MacGregor then hit a ground ball to third base and Amsterdam threw Devon out at home trying to score. After Colin Grenier was intentionally walked and Kosta Mocklis was hit by a pitch with 2 strikes to load the bases, Mike Rollick worked a 9 pitch walk to score the tying run. Jacob Cogswell came up with a chance to win the game. Despite getting down 0-2, Cogswell was hit in the back with a fastball for a walkoff hit by pitch, sending Seacoast AA to the Championship where they would get one final chance against NL Pony League.

In the Championship game NL pony league got out to an early 2-0 lead on an error that scored two. Seacoast answered back with two runs of their own in the third inning to tie that score at 2. NLPL answered right back with 2 runs after a two run triple. NL pony league then went on to score 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to put the game away by a final score of 8-2.

In the awards ceremony after the Championship game, Seacoast AA received the second place trophy and Will Macgregor was named Tournament MVP! Will went 4-12 with a homerun and 5 RBI's in the tournament. Devon Lapierre (6 hits), Kosta Mocklis (5 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI's) and Colin Grenier (1 double, 1 triple, 2 RBI's) were also standouts for the AA team.
