Day 2: This place is beautiful

Day 2 kicked off with a visit into the center of Amsterdam. It is an amazing city with stunning architecture. It is very fast paced, though! Lots of people, bikes and trains rolling through the streets. We met outside of the Royal Palace of Amsterdam (pictured above) where we took some pictures and got ready to split up for some sightseeing.

Before we spit up we were approached by a young opera singer who was doing a challenge with the group she was with. She had to crowd surf while singing and she asked our boys to play the crowd and we happily played along. Unfortunately I can't post the video but there is a screenshot below. It was a really funny experience for the boys and the hundreds of people that stopped to watch

We then split off into our groups to go around and check out the shops. The boys checked out some local fashion stores (the fashion is very different here but very cool) and souvenir shops. The boys definitely enjoyed the shops and had a fun time checking out the area. The boys were also able to try out some different adventurous local foods (KFC and McDonald's mostly). We then hopped back on the train to head back to the hotel.

We couldn't keep him contained

We then had a quick turnaround and headed to the Amsterdam Pirates complex for practice. The complex is absolutely beautiful, it has two little league fields and two 90' diamonds. The fields are absolutely stunning. After warm ups we worked on some first and third situations and then had a mini batting practice game where we split the boys up into teams of four. It was a good chance to get the boys some swings while also being in game situations in the field. Practice concluded with a tryout for the King of the Hill challenge after the first round of games tomorrow. The king of the hill is a knockout fielding challenge between one selected fielder from each team. Players have to field ground balls from all infield positions. Once the player makes three outs he is out of the game and the last player standing is the king of the hill. Tristan Winder will represent A and Robbie Follis will represent AA.

After practice we went back to the hotel for dinner. We had Salad, chicken curry, and a lunch meat spread with vanilla yogurt and brownies for dessert. It was great! It definitely was a great day for all of us. Tomorrow we're both scheduled for 2 games. A plays at 9am against the Hoofddorp Pioneers and AA plays at 11am against Pony League NL. We won't know our second game until after we've played the first round. It's a double elimination tournament and we are guaranteed at least 3 games each. Hope for some wins tomorrow!
